What happens at Philharmonic Hall

What happens at Philharmonic Hall

Liverpool Philharmonic Hall hosts orchestra concerts and events across several genres. The present hall was designed by Herbert J. Rowse and opened on 19 June 1939, after the earlier hall was destroyed by fire on 5 July 1933.

The Hope Street address also puts the venue close to other performance spaces. If you are planning another show, the Everyman Theatre Liverpool visit guide covers that nearby venue.

Arrival, access and parking

Arrival, access and parking

Caledonia Street Car Park is next door, but spaces are limited, particularly on Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra concert evenings. For most of those concerts, you can reserve parking at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral Car Park, a five-minute walk away. It is listed as open from 6pm to 11pm and costs £6.

For selected events, a limited number of spaces can be reserved at Vine Court Car Park, also a five-minute walk away. It is listed as open from 5.30pm to midnight and costs £6.50.

Blue Badge holders can reserve a Caledonia Street space for most Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra concerts, subject to availability. Booking is required at least one week before the concert and costs £8.

The Hall has wheelchair spaces in Boxes 7, 8, 15 and 16, Row A at the front of the Stalls, and Rows W and X in the Grand Circle.

Wheelchair users and customers who need a companion or carer are entitled to a free companion ticket. Two customer lifts provide level access from the foyer to the basement toilets, Stalls, Boxes, Grand Foyer, Circle and 1840 Lounge.

Access facilities include three gender-neutral accessible toilets in the foyer, two wheelchair-accessible toilets with right- or left-hand transfer, and a ground-floor Changing Places toilet.

A Hearing Induction Loop is available in the Box Office and main auditorium; infrared equipment for the auditorium system can be collected from the kiosk. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the building. Tell the Box Office when booking so it can recommend suitable seats.

You may be asked to have your bags checked. The venue asks visitors not to bring large bags and does not offer cloakroom bag-checking. Before you go, check the official site for current performance listings, booking details, access arrangements and parking information.
